Three ways to increase website effectiveness as a marketing tool

Business owners far too often throw up a website and simply hope for the best. They understand to an extent that they need to have an online presence to compete in today's marketplace, but they have no idea how to turn that website into a profitable marketing tool. Today I'd like to talk about three things you can do to your website to make them more effective for your company. Search Engine Optimisation The first thing you can do to make your website more effective is to optimise it for searches. Optimising your website is as simple as finding out what people in your area are looking for when they search for the products and services you have to offer. There are a number of free tools you can use to do this, but the best is Google's keyword tool. Once you know what people are looking for, optimising your site can be as simple as adding a few tags to your site's code. The two most important tags to add are a title tag and a description meta tag. There are many seo training guides you can find to show you how to do this. You can also give your site a bigger SEO boost by completing a local listing in Google Places. This is especially important if your main source of customers is your local area. Email Marketing The second thing you can do to increase your website's effectiveness is to add email marketing to your arsenal. By adding an email capture form to your site, you can start building your very own hot list of buyers! The emails you collect can be fed into an autoresponder program. Autoresponders are an amazing marketing tool, because they allow you to build a relationship with people who are already interested in what you have to offer, at a cost that is a fraction of any other form of advertising! You can send out special offers to this list of buyers - special discounts, etc. - and see a bigger return than was ever possible with direct mail, television, or print advertising. And email marketing is the only form of advertising that is 100% trackable! Video Marketing Last but not least, business owners can use video marketing to increase their website's effectiveness, and broaden their reach. Most people think of television when they think of video marketing; but video sharing sites like YouTube have made it possible for business owners to reach a broad audience for free, AND get permanent air time! You can also place the videos you create on your website, to increase interactivity. So there you have three things you can implement right away to increase the effectiveness of your company's website. All are a fraction of the cost of traditional advertising and marketing methods to implement, and can even be done at no cost to you. |
